Company History

GenServe (General Technical Services) Limited was born out of Nokia UK - originally it was their UK technical, repair and spares organization, until 1996 when Nokia pulled out of general consumer electronics to concentrate on mobile phones. GenServe was born as the spin-out of this organisation from Nokia.

GenServe then concentrated on becoming a specialist electronics repair organisation. The Company's technical staff and capabilities remained strong, with a wealth of technical experience. GenServe's product specialization broadened to encompass DVD recorders, satellite systems and hi-fi, allied to its established capabilities in high-end audiovisual products.

In 2005 another local company, Colorite, became part of GenServe, bringing yet more experienced staff and a well-respected field service capability, complementing GenServe's established workshop capabilities.

GenServe has extensive workshop facilities at its headquarters in Swindon. The Company uses specialist couriers to collect and re-deliver products from all over the UK, and further afield on occasion. Local field-based repairs are carried out by qualified GenServe engineers using the Company's vehicles; unlike many other organizations, GenServe still maintains a true field-based engineering capability, comprehensively supported by its workshop-based facilities. GenServe also works with allied organizations to provide field-based digital TV aerial installation and service.
